Those who enjoy the outdoors will revel in Schanskraal.
The vistas and sheer sense of space are magnificent.
The climate allows Schanskraal to be enjoyed all year
round and with the enormous choice of activities there
is something to please everyone.
Enjoy outdoor activities such as archery, clay target
and wing shooting, game drives, quad biking, mountain
biking, horse riding, scenic walks, hiking trails, bird
watching, canoeing, swimming, lake fishing and star
gazing.

Archery is enjoyed under
supervision and the clay target
shooting is guided by a CTSASA
member who will help you improve
your scores.

specializing in the highly
prized and sought-after Grey

Game drives and 4x4 trails are
offered on
over 60km of farm roads and
tracks. |
Spend the whole day exploring the farm on a
quad bike
or be accompanied by a guide who will show
you places that will astound you
The scenery begs the visitor to go out walking or
hiking.
For those who would like to do some serious hiking
around the hills,
two overnight huts are available that can sleep 6 comfortably.

horse riding is a great way to
get around and see the sights. |
Schanskraal is also home to the
Welbech Arabian Stud, breeders of top endurance
horses, and hosts the annual Schanskraal F.E.I. Endurance
Ride.

Enjoy the incredible birdlife of
some 150 species while taking a
leisurely row across the
beautiful lake situated next to
Burgersrust Lodge.
Or go swimming in the landscaped
heated swimming pool
(available to guests of the
Country Manor only).

as Air Force practice manoevres
and aeronautical Clubs coming to
enjoy our wonderful vistas. |

For those who are interested in
bygone cultures, |

there are examples of San (Bushman) rock art
and sites believed to be related to their
religion
on Schanskraal. Guided tours can take
the visitor to see both these and other
ruins and many kilometers of stone walls
erected by farming pioneers and `bywoners'.
Schanskraal is centrally located
between Richmond, Graaff-Reinet
and Middelburg

and is perfect for day trips to
historic and beautiful
Graaff-Reinet, which is
surrounded by
the newly proclaimed Camdeboo
National Park with its
spectacular Valley of
Desolation.
Day trips can also be made to
Nieu Bethesda, with its famous
Owl House
and other places of
interest in
the area including the largest
private fossil collection in the
world
... or just simply relax,
unwind, and let the peace and
quiet wash over you.
